Illinois Legal Aid Online Day - March 8, 2016

Illinois Legal Aid Online celebrates its 15th birthday on March 8, 2016 with a free CLE program, happy hour and more.

Since its launch in 2001, ILAO has logged nearly 17 million visits to its websites, making it by far the most accessed legal aid resource in the state. Through the innovative use of technology, ILAO helps to level the playing field for lower-income and vulnerable Illinois residents who cannot afford a lawyer to solve civil legal problems, like eviction, divorce, domestic violence, foreclosure and more. ILAO increases access to justice by simplifying a complex legal system so that people can better understand their rights, make informed decisions and represent themselves when forced to do so.

In celebration of this upcoming anniversary, Governor Bruce Rauner will declare March 8, 2016 as "Illinois Legal Aid Online Day" in the state of Illinois. We are humbled and honored by this recognition and will spend the next month doing our best to thank all of our many supporters and partners who have helped us reach this milestone.

Please join in celebrating Illinois Legal Aid Online's 15th anniversary by participating in some of these activities on March 8th:

  • Illinois Legal Aid Online (ILAO) Day CLE

$15 for our 15th - After 15 years, ILAO is tearing down and completely rebuilding its technology platform and online services. The new IllinoisLegalAid.org will launch in the summer of 2016. As you've heard through this blog, the new IllinoisLegalAid.org will transform the way that people in Illinois use technology to access the legal system.  In order to continue to adopt new technologies and serve as the central nervous system for legal aid delivery in Illinois, we need your financial support. We'll be campaigning all month to encourage supporters (new and old) to pledge a $15 recurring monthly gift to ILAO.   To learn more or make a pledge, please visit our donation page.

YPB Happy Hour - Join Illinois Legal Aid Online's Young Professionals Board for a post-CLE networking happy hour and "birthday" celebration at Elephant & Castle (111. W Adams) on March 8, 2016. ILAO's YPB has set an audacious goal of raising an additional $25,000 this year to support ILAO's transformation and all proceeds from this event will go toward this goal. Tickets are $30 in advance and include 1 drink ticket and appetizers. To buy tickets and sign up for the party, check out our Events page

#ILAODay - It wouldn't be a celebration if we didn't have a hashtag. Share your ILAO stories on social media and follow the conversation during the weeks leading up to #ILAODay. Like and follow Illinois Legal Aid Online on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube to join the fun.

On behalf of the 17 million (and counting) visitors to ILAO's websites, we are grateful for your support! To learn more about Illinois Legal Aid Online and our ILAO Day Celebrations, please visit: IllinoisLegalAidOnline.org.
